Spring Break! Today is one of the slowest days I’ve had at the office in a while.
I decided to take lunch a little early mainly because I was eager to purchase a small little bit of happiness to off-set my abnormally low mood. No major traumas, no real sadness, just a low grade sense of discontentment and unhappiness. I started thinking, why would I feel so glum? The weather is nice, my patients are amazing, my family loves and supports me, I’m in good health, the office is organized, I get to take a vacation in less than a week; what’s the problem? I started to realize in my quick analysis that today I do not feel as if I’m living my life authentically to my peak capacity.
Living my life authentically to my peak capacity means positively transforming the life of every person that walks in my office and working with 8-14 amazing souls each day one on one to offer medical knowledge, compassion, guidance, tools to successful living, healing energy and the confidence to move to their next level of wellness.
My low mood is a reflection of not living my life authentically.
That little slice of chocolate which increases serotonin levels (your happy hormone) is a widely used over the counter American made “drug” to temporarily shift the way I’m (we’re) feeling. So, how about shifting my words, my actions, my thoughts, my personal practices to support my authenticity?
Think about every time you reach for that peace of chocolate. Are you tired and wanting a boost? Are you board? Are you sad? Are you lonely and wanting something yummie to comfort you? Are you dissatisfied and want a pick me up?
To prevent future dis-satisfaction, learn ways that you can live your life more authentically to your peak capacity so each day you feel fulfilled with who you are, what you have to offer and how you show up in this world.
Start to notice, do you feel this way often? Is it becoming a pattern? What are your options for change either internally or externally that would potentially shift this feeling of dis-contentment and support your living your life most authentically to your peak capacity?
Get started and save the chocolate for a rainy day!
