Ok, maybe an odd title, but how many of you women are pre, post or IN THE THICK of menopause, but still LOVE, LOVE, LOVE your physical activity? But you feel slower…..a bit more achy….. need more recovery time…..get crazy head aches, back aches, -itis’s here and there….I mean, we may not be 20 anymore, but come on, 50 is the new 30, right?
Side note: I’m actually 30 and find that I too sometimes have the same questions- what happen?
But I also have some AMAZING solutions! Lets talk basic physiology and energetics first- how the body functions and naturally matures! At 20 you have less “stored experiences” in your cells- ie: less trauma, memory, build-up of toxins, less positive or negatively affirming experiences. You also have less “build up or congestion” that is negatively impacting the way your body eliminates toxins and functions. So what does that tell me- we gotta work on your liver! We probably have to work on other things too, but the liver is a great place to start! There are lots of different herbs or regimens out there that can help start the process like milk thistle, a squeeze of lemon in your morning water or Castor oil packs at night, but once we move from basic training, we get into the genius of universal creation mixed in with a dash of time and space, complimented by a pinch of botanical, homeopathic and drainage medicine. Creating a cocktail I like to call, Results!
Now lets take a step into the spiritual power of being a women in and around menopause. You are our divine source. In ancient cultures, once the women moves from her child bearing years and into a time of reflection, she becomes the center source of wisdom and love within her community and family unit. Her energetic and physical body (so this means hormones, recovery time and energy too) is going through a transition to a place of quiet and calm. Because it is from this space that a women can reflect and then share the wisdom of her own life. So, be gentle on yourself; love yourself for where you are at, acknowledge your beauty behind your glamorous cycle in life and embrace the essence you emanate- love, beauty, wisdom and strength!
Maybe you can’t beat your 20 year old daughter in a foot race or match your mate on a road bike, but the fact that you are still moving your body daily, showing the world your character and striving for new levels of greatness is equally amazing.
You can still challenge yourself athletically while holding the space for reflection and wisdom. But honor both sides of you and know that naturally your body needs more rest, cleaner nutrients, more water, herbs for hormone balancing (and I don’t just mean your ovaries- I’m talking all your hormones!) and praise yourself for being in such an exalted place in your life. A place where you can really make a unique difference to those around you!
